Privacy
The controller of your data is Vlasveld Software, KVK 99819600, in the Netherlands. This describes what Keptbits actually does with what you give it.
What we hold
Your email address, the videos you upload, the transcripts made from them, and the clips produced. Alongside that, the small amount of measurement data described further down.
Videos, transcripts and clips are deleted automatically seven days after they are made. Your email address stays until you close the account.
Advertising measurement
Keptbits advertises through Google Ads and OpenAI Ads, and we measure whether those adverts lead anywhere. Nothing else is tracked: there is no analytics suite, no session recording, no heatmaps, and no profiling of what you do inside the app.
In your browser, a Google tag and an OpenAI measurement pixel load on the public pages. Between them they report two things and only two things: that an account was confirmed, and that a subscription was paid for. Neither reports what you upload, what your clips contain, or which pages you read.
On our server, when you confirm a new account we report a single “trial started” event to OpenAI’s conversions API. It carries the click reference from the advert, your email address hashed with SHA-256 so the address itself never leaves our server, your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string, and the page you landed on. It is sent once per account.
We do not sell anything to advertisers, and no advert is ever shown inside the app.
Whether we measure at all, and how you decide
This depends on where you are, because the law does. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, both tags start switched off and stay off unless you accept in the banner at the bottom of the screen. Nothing is stored or sent before you answer, and declining leaves them off permanently.
Everywhere else, measurement is on by default and you can switch it off at any time, here or in the banner if you have seen one:

The choice is kept in a cookie for a year and applies to this browser only. Clearing your cookies resets it to the default for your region.
Your answer is remembered in the kb_consent cookie and honoured by both halves — the tags in your browser and the report from our server. Turning it off stops both.
Who else sees it
Audio goes to Deepgram for transcription, and the resulting text goes to Anthropic for the scoring pass. Both are processors acting on our instructions. Your video file itself is never sent to either. The conversion event described above goes to OpenAI, which acts on its own account for advertising measurement rather than purely on our instructions. The same is true of Google, which receives the two conversion events described above. Both are in the United States; the transfer rests on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and on the standard contractual clauses in their terms.
Where it lives
Files and database rows are held by Supabase; rendering runs on our own worker. Clip and source files are private, reachable only through short-lived links issued to you.
Getting rid of it
Mail help@keptbits.com and we will delete your account and everything attached to it, including the record that a conversion was reported. A self-service button for this is coming. To turn advertising measurement off, use the switch further up this page — you do not need to clear anything or wait for the banner to reappear.
